ABOUT 2G

2G ( or 2-G) is short from second generation tecnology of mobile phone. this technology mobile phone comes to changed first mobile tecnology, 1G is using analog system likes AMPS(Advance Mobile Phone System). This generation using mechanism Time Division Multiple Access(TDMA) and Code Division Multiple Access(CDMA) in communication technique.

2G is mobile network telecommunication that shared with commercial on standart GSM network in Finland by Radiolinja(now is part from Elisa) on 1991. Different with 1G, 2G using digital system.

Ability Of 2G

1. Another serve voice communication, 2G also can serve communication text, that is SMS(Short message service is two way service to send short message with 160 caracter)

2.Advocate voice mail, call waiting and data transfer with maxs speed is 9600 bps(bit per second). that speed enough to send message, downloading picture or ringtoneMIDI

3.compared 1G service of 2G is better, from capacity side also more big

voice that producing from 2G more clear because 2G using digital basis, so before send in, analog voice signal transform be digital signal. this transformation enable can repaired broken voice signal because trouble of noise or interfency another frekuency. repaired happen in receiver, then returning again in analog signal form.

Power that needed for signal is less, with the result that can economize of battery, can using headset longer and also size of battery can more small.

Weakness Of 2G

1.speed of data transfer low(the speed is low to middle)

2.Not eficien in low traffic

3.Network range is limited so very depend of BTS(cell tower)

Evolution

after 2G extrinsic generation 2,5G that development from 2G. 2,5G actived service with high speed transfer data with 2G network wich upgradeable. 2.5G is service of voice communication, sms and data 153 kbps. 2,5G tecnology which famous is GPRS(General Packet Radio Service) and EDGE(Enhanced Data for GSM Evolution)
